U.S. President Obama held a Town Hall in Washington D.C. for participants of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders on Monday July 28, 2014. The President made special mention of Zimbabwe’s Young African Leaders Initiative fellow, Abigail Muleya, when he addressed the 300 fellows attending a summit in Washington DC.
The Fellows are participating in the six-week program, meant to empower emerging leaders. “One young woman from rural Zimbabwe took a 5 hour bus ride, then another 6 hour bus ride, then another 7 hour bus ride, a 2 day journey, just to get her interview.” the President told the gathering.
