Zimbabwe has awarded schools and students who excelled and performed well in various subjects and disciplines in the year 2013. The awards ceremony was at the country’s Harare province. The state has also recognized the efforts of hard working teachers and urged them to continue with their pursuit of producing best results.

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema made his debut in the South African Parliament on June 18 2014 during the debate on President Jacob Zuma’s state of the nation address.

The United Kingdom earlier this week held a summit on Female Genital Mutilation and the forced marriage of young girls. Prime Minister David Cameron said it’s crucial for the world to protect its girl children. Early marriage is an especially prominent issue in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Zimbabwe, for instance, 31 percent of girls get married before the age of 18. Poverty is the main reason for that statistic. CCTV’s Farai Mwakutuya spent some time with a group hoping to curb the practice.
