Pending the announcement of a possible election date, political contestation gains momentum in Zimbabwe. ZANU PF wants an early election but the main opposition alliance says the country is not ready; and that they will resist any attempts for an early poll. Mnangagwa has said the elections will be held in the next four or five months, a timeframe the opposition believes is not adequate to put in place electoral reforms that would guarantee an uncontested, free, fair and credible election. Mnangagwa has been calling for the election since coming into office late last year.
