China has donated 5.5 tonnes of rice to Zimbabwe to alleviate hunger. The donation is part of a 19 thousand tonne pledge made by China for Zimbabwe. Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Huang Ping on Thursday handed over the rice. The ambassador says the donation is the fulfilment of China’s drought-relief pledge made by President Xi Jinping during the FOCAC summit in South Africa. Around four million Zimbabweans are currently in need of food aid. The rice will now go to the most vulnerable.
