Police in Zimbabwe arrested 12 nurses protesting outside state hospitals on Monday demanding to be paid in U.S. dollars as inflation running at nearly 800% was eroding their salaries, the country’s nurses union said.

Zimbabwe Nurses and other health workers at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital’s in Harare have walked out and are currently demonstrating over poor salaries  while being watched by riot police.

The Zimbabwe Nurses Association says nurses and support staff have resolved to join the strike by doctors. The association says the Health Services Board and the Health ministry have not taken any action towards resolving their grievances.
