A renowned pastor imprisoned in Zimbabwe’s crackdown during the on-going unrest has told ITV News of the horrors he witnessed in a cramped cell of 53 people.

After 2 weeks of being jailed in Chikurubi Maximum security prison, I was released on stringent bail conditions. Thank you for your strong support and prayers. My prayers and thoughts are with the many innocent men still inside who were dragged from their homes, brutalised and arrested. In Zimbabwe, police have widened their security crackdown after protests against spiralling fuel prices turned violent. They’ve made more than 600 arrests – among them, a high profile critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The government doubled fuel prices at the weekend sparking unrest.
