The United Nations has warned that Zimbabwe is facing another poor harvest in 2020 because of patchy rains, compounding problems for millions of people already grappling with a drought and the worst economic crisis in a decade.

Climate change and the El Nino weather cycle are being blamed for one of Zimbabwe’s worst droughts in history. There is a severe shortage of water across the country – affecting the population as well as domestic and wild animals. 

Erratic rains over the last two years have made it difficult for prison farms to meet the dietary requirements of inmates.

Up to 4 million Zimbabweans face hunger because of poor harvests during a harsh drought induced by El Nino weather, as the government declares a state of national disaster and appeals for food aid. Mana Rabiee reports.
