Nyoka and Kunyepa – Aliens

So-called “aliens” can now (re)gain citizenship and vote in Zimbabwe, a right (re)acquired by the new constitution signed into law on 22 May, 2013. This disenfranchisement is courtesy of Robert Mugabe’s ZANU-PF Party adopting the Citizenship of Zimbabwe Act in 2002. This resulted in an estimated 1 million people losing their Zimbabwean citizenship, effectively making them second class citizen of their homeland.
