The MDC National Youth Assembly National Youth Council met at the party’s Harvest House headquarters on Tuesday and later issued a statement warning party spokesman Obert Gutu over his reported ambitions to run for the Harare East constituency in defiance of a seat sharing agreement made under the MDC Alliance.
An angry Gutu hit back saying the “statement was utterly abusive of my both my personal integrity and professional reputation. I take the greatest of exception to the unfounded, repugnant, malevolent, evil and malicious attack that was launched against my person.
“For the avoidance of doubt,I, once again, reiterate that I am a democrat to the bare bone. Thus, no amount of malicious and rabid vilification of my person will force me to renounce my interest in running in the Harare East constituency in the 2018 elections.
“I will never, ever give in to intimidation. Of course,I’m willing and indeed, very able, to take appropriate and lawful action to protect both my professional integrity and constitutional right as a citizen of Zimbabwe. I will not give in to vile and cheap intimidation.” Nehanda TV
