Zimbabweans living in South Africa had until midnight on Wednesday to apply for special permits to remain in the country, or face deportation. Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba introduced the Zimbabwean Special Permit on August the 12th this year.
Over 207-thousand applications have been received while over 198-thousand appointments have been made electronically. The department is confident that the process has been smooth. Gigaba has emphasised that only those who’ve applied will receive their permits next year.
